Here I go again on my own...

Current Location: Cairns, Queensland Australia
I arrived in Cairns one week ago from Sydney. Pronounced "cans" this little city is crawling with backpackers from all over the world. Set along the coast of the Pacific Ocean its great attraction is of course the Great Barrier Reef. It's a tropical environment with an array of rainforest, jungle, and rivers chock full of the estuarine or saltwater crocodile. This is the beginning of a long journey. Tomorrow morning I leave for Darwin, hitching a ride with a couple I met today. The 2639km (1640 mile) journey will take a few days of travel through the Outback of Australia. Kakadu National Park is near Darwin and that will be my home for the next few weeks. I fly out of Darwin to Denpasar Bali, Indonesia on the 8th of July. I plan on traveling all through Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. Then comes the highlight of the trip for me, the flight from Bangkok to Kathmandu, Nepal. This is where I will explore the Everest region of the Himalayas. I will try and update every so often with some pictures and a little lowdown on the local culture.
